Spring Fever!

They are calling it the winter that never ends. It is definitely feeling like that in our household! Everyone is itching for warmer weather and sunshine for more than a day. Logan even mentioned the other morning that he is tired of the snow and asked if we could go to the beach. Now if a six year old is asking for a tropical vacation what does that say? So to try and bring some sunshine indoors I set out to make some Springtime cupcakes courtesy of the Pillsbury Doughboy. :) What could be an easier way to remind us that spring IS just around the corner? Miss Scout lends a hand to bring a smile and some sunshine into our day as well.

Scout also taught us tonight what happens when you have a big sneeze while eating. I was about to put her in the bath, but thought hey, everyone needs a messy baby food picture.:)

Happy clean baby after a quick bath!

So don't forget if you need a pick me up after this long long winter, just put a flower on your head or find some springtime in a box thanks too Pillsbury!

Oh and p.s. Grandpa Dave, we found your self portrait with Scout.

Making Some Baby Food

I know that most of you know that I make Scouts baby food. I know most of you also think I am crazy :) Here are some pictures of the whole process, I really do enjoy doing this for her, so much fun and not difficult at all!!

1. We get the fruit and veggies:

2. I am going to show you some pears.. first we peel and cut:

3. We steam them...

4. Still steaming, usually 15 minutes but it varies depnding on the fruit or veggie.

5. After they are all steamed they go from the steamer to the food processor, and we turn them to baby mush.

6. Then I spoon out the mush into ice cube trays and put the trays into the freezer.

7. After the cubes have frozen, I then pop them out and seperate each food into it's own zip lock baggie so at meal times I can grab what we want her to have for dinner and warm it up.

Miss Scout loves her fruits and veggies!!

Six Months

Another month has come and gone and Miss Scout is now 6 months old.
I can't believe how quickly these six months have gone by. It seems like we just brought her home from the hospital. So much has happened in the last six months. Grandma Kathleen is missed every day, and each month as I take Scout's monthly "dot" photos, it seems hard to believe that it has been that long since I've seen her.
I know my baby girl has another guardian angel watching over her from Heaven, but I wish Scout would have had the opportunity to meet her Great Grandma.
I'm sure the next six months will go by just as quickly, and I am praying for only good things and great memories. Of course I do have my good memories to share with her of Grandma, pizza for breakfast (because it has all four food groups), liver for dinner (I still say yuck haha), washing windows, the boys helping her with her flowers, her amazing talent as an artist, her love of our Irish history, and oranges and cloves. Love you Grandma and miss you.
Now that I am wiping tears away and smiling at the same time, on too Scouts 6 month stats. She is in the 2nd percentile for weight (12lbs 11oz) and 4th percentile for length (24 3/4 inches). I know it does not sound like much but our little princess has gained over 7lbs and 6 inches in the last six months. We also have to take into consideration that she was sick with RSV the week before her 6 month check up and had weighed in at 13+ pounds prior to getting sick. She did well with her shots again this month and cried only for a minute. I have too admit though I am looking forward to taking her to her 9 month check up. NO SHOTS! :)
The boys are doing well in school, we just had our parent teacher conferences in the last couple of weeks. Logan is improving with his speech and is doing well with early reader books. Kole again is scoring well beyond district expectations in his testing, but yet rushes through his homework and is making some mistakes there. If he is bored, or just too smart for his own good is yet too be determined. Regardless, we are very proud of how well they are doing with school.
On the home front Mike and I are constantly coming up with ideas for the house and what we want to do with it. We still have to find an electrical and plumbing contractor to redo the bathroom and adjust some wiring in the basement to add another room. We are also talking about the landscaping ideas we have too. Spring and warmer weather can't get here soon enough, but then again, time is flying and maybe it wouldn't be so bad if it slowed down just a bit.

And have I mentioned we are rolling over? A little hard to capture in a picture, she just looks like she's flying!!

First Week Of February

I don't care what the groundhog says! Six more weeks is ONLY six more weeks, bring on spring I'm ready!!
Goings on around the house:
1. We have figured out we are going to have to remodel the bathroom sooner than expected.. should be lots of fun I'm sure. HA!
2. Miss Scout is still TRYING to roll over but has yet to do it unassisted.. she will get there trying to let her be and not rush her, hard enough to believe she will be six months in a few days.
We have also had a bout with RSV and an ear infection. I entirely blame myself for this because I had the sense to tell a coworker just last week how lucky we are that she is such a healthy baby and hasn't had ANY colds or been sick. I guess knocking on fiberboard is NOT the same as knocking on good old wood.
3. Kole and Logan are doing well in school, already counting down the days to summer vacation. I personally don't quite remember getting as many vacation days as they seem to get, must be old age getting to me. :)

All in all everything is going well. Mike and I are constantly running from one place or another, and this is the calm time of year. I am not doing as well as I would have liked with keeping up with the blog, so I am going to try and do a weekly post from now on.. or was that my original goal?? Again I can't remember...

Here are a couple new pictures from throughout these last few weeks ENJOY!

Go Jays!

Miss Scout loves to play in the exercauser!

and finally I am now accepting applications for anyone who claims to be able to get three kids to all look at the camera and smile at the same time. :)

Until i post again,
Jenny
